Somewhere along the D train whilst listening to Spoon's lovely tune, Fitted Shirt, I realized that I must bring My Daily Bacon back. Then I got this link:

and truly realized that the people need to read about more rock and more bacon.

It's back. Stay tuned for updates

You know it is going to be a great day when you start the day off with good friends and the best breakfast sandwich in the history of the breakfast sandwich-THE RISE AND SHINER. The Rise and Shiner (will be known as Shiner for the duration of My Daily Bacon) a regular old egg and cheese with your choice of meat (of course you should have it with bacon) on a nice bulky roll and this is where it gets special..... sandwiched right between the egg, cheese and bacon you slide in a deep fried hashbrown pattie! Yes it is divine-add a little salt and pepper and shazam, swine-orific yummies! I will be going to the home of The Shiner this weekend and will report in with photos next week.
It was a sun shiney day that started with good friends and bacon and ended with good friends and a special solo acoustic Jim James performance!!!
Kudos to the fine folks at Fader magazine who put on a great party celebrating their 40th issue with none other than our dearest Jim James of My Morning Jacket. Interestingly enough Jim James graces the cover of this celebrated new Fader issue with Young Jeezy! Jim James performed for about 35 sublime minutes at the beautiful Lower East Side holy place, Angel Orsanz Foundation. The pictures say enough (you can certainly tell which photo is from my cell phone...but I really liked how you can see the amazing alter Jim performed on). His solo acoustic performance featured a nice collection of Jacket songs including "Gideon", "What A Wonderful Man" and my favorite, "Bermuda Highway". I was in heaven.

I could honestly completely go off on my love for the Jacket and how much Jim James rules, but the next few months will be immensely Jacket-tastic, so I don't necessarily want to "blow my wad" here. I will tell you to run out to your local record store and purchase Okonokos, My Morning Jacket's brand-spankin new double live CD, or seek out the 4 record box set (yes 4 vinyl LPs). Mark your calendar for October 30th and hope you live in one of the dozen cities that will be screening the DVD of Okonokos, or wait the night out and hit your record store and buy the DVD! The album was recorded last Halloween at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore....Yes-it is an amazing recording.

The moral of the story today is:
Start the day out with bacon and you just might get to see Jim James!!!!

Ok, Ok....I know, I said I would be really good about this blog thing-and i completely let the summer get the best of me. Tons of beach days, rock shows and BBQs....and some beloved work...and before I knew it, mydailybacon fell to the wayside and now it is almost 2 months later and I add another post. But this time-for realsies...I am going to fulfill the commitment I have made.... to bring the bacon and the rock to the people! So here is a lovely pictue of some perfectly cooked bacon illuminated like a fine stained glass window. And look at this shit......
GUMMY FUCKIN BACON

As far as the rock is concerned, I will offer some advice....Rocktober is just around the corner, so start practicing your rock-squats now! If the coming week is any pre-cursor to what Rocktober will be.....we are very, lucky people!
Please listen to the new Mastodon, Sloan, Justin Timberlake and Mars Volta records-they kick ass. I will give you the autumnal rock rundown later this week.
I'm totes back!!!

Whoa...the lil piggies have been slacking. I know, I know-a blog means that you actually write things all the time instead of a monthly thing....no worries-I will be pulling it together and alas this will be a BLOG not a monthly newsletter!!!! I had a revelation when I gazed in a special breakfast item this morning whilst celebrating Nortie's birthday. Smack dab on it's very own plate sat the delicious and nutritious BIRTHDAY BACON, which provided the inspirato to get my ass in gear and get blogging about bacon and rock!
So let her squeal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The terrific birthday bacon was consumed at Dizzy's in Park Slope. A fabulous breakfast joint with a solid menu and pretty decent bacon. I was transixed by 2 slabs of bacon that were doing the tango- stuck together and fried in a happy bacon on bacon sandwich-you know good luck bacon...like when you get two Chex stuck together in your spoon or two adjoining Cheezits or two siamese gummi bears.... "good luck bacon" my friends. What a perfect bacon for Nortie's birthday bacon!!! What a perfect bacon to inspire!!!

In other news, the rock in the Big Apple has been pretty good so far this summer. Some highlights include Sam Champion at the Bowery Ballroom, Dead Meadow and The Slip (I know weird combo) at McCarren Pool, Peelander Z and Electric Eel Shock at CBGB, Ray Lamontagne at Prospect Park, Gomez at Webster Hall and Montreal Jazz Fest, My Morning Jacket with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall and of course the rocking splendor of Bonnaroo. With so many hot and sultry days to come as we prepare for ski season, make sure you get out there and enjoy the air conditioned happiness of a rock club or a cool breeze infused evening at a free show in a local park near you. Don't worry I will give you a run down of the shows not to be missed-next entry, next entry.

So alas, thanks for reading and please return to My Daily Bacon, comment on My Daily Bacon, tell your friends about My Daily Bacon. And for gods sake eat some Bacon.
